Task Lighting
Task lighting is a typically an overhead light that works to illuminate a workspace or area where activities take place. There are many places in the house that can use task lights. They are often found in kitchens over the sink or dining area. They can be found in bathrooms, also over the sink. Of course a task light is a must for any area of the house that serves as a reading or studying area. Installing gooseneck fluorescent task lighting over the bed can be an ideal source of light for those who like to read at the end of a long evening.
While task lighting in a kitchen can be installed as overhead lighting, it is also helpful when installed as undercabinet lighting to illuminate countertops. This is also true of workspaces such as garages or sewing rooms. For other activities, there are task lamps that come in a number of models and those models come in great variety of styles. While it is helpful that task lighting in the home hangs from the ceiling, sometimes a stand alone model is necessary. Some task lights serve a double purpose. They can illuminate a workspace while also providing a dose of healthy light that subtly affects moods. It is well known that a lack of natural light can affect morale. Using this type of lighting does away with the yellow cast of incandescent bulbs supplying a blue-white light that mimics natural light astonishingly well.
