Fragrance Lamps

Fragrance lamps aren’t really lamps in the sense of being a traditional light source. A fragrance lamp is a small vessel with a stone burner that is filled with a fragrant alcohol or oil mixture. The wick is lit, allowed to burn for a few moments and then extinguished. The lamp then emits the fragrance of choice through a process of catalytic combustion. These lamps have been around for decades and have recently made a comeback in homes and other places where air quality was of importance.

Fragrance oil lamps come in a number of finishes such as glass, ceramic or even porcelain. The unique thing about effusion fragrance lamps is that they do more than just mask the air with a perfumed odor. They actually take air particles and oxidize them. In the same vein, a catalytic fragrance lamp will take molecules that cause odors moving through its filter and turn them into oxygen. The result is a room with cleaner air. Many air fresheners simply cover an odor and that is why most odors never go away.

After choosing one of the pleasant fragrance lamp oils in any number of lovely scents, it is recommended that the chamber of the lamp be filled only half way. Once the wick is lit it is allowed to burn for two to three minutes in order to heat up the lamp’s stone burner. Upon extinguishing the flame, the stone burner begins to refresh the air destroying up to 85% of the airborne bacteria in a room. It is not uncommon to see steam rise at times as the fragrance lamp does its job.

Although Lamp Berger fragrance lamps are the original fragrance lamp, there are also Alexandria fragrance lamps that have made quite a name for themselves. The Alexerdia fragrance lamp can refresh an entire room in almost thirty minutes. Alexandria’s fragrance lamps are decorative and have a number of appealing scents. There are many online sources for not only finding and Alexandria fragrance lamp but also fragrance lamp fuel recipes. The online option is also great for finding whole sale fragrance lamps. The lamps are fairly inexpensive and it is possible to change scents without having to clean or use a different lamp.
