On the lighting home page, one can find the various elements, aspects, methods and sources for lighting a home, office and other types of spaces. In a home, lights are very important and serve a functional and decorative purpose.

Interior lighting refers to sources or methods for the illumination of the inside of a space. This can refer to light sources that are wired in, as in track lighting or stage lighting that turns on with the flip of a switch or it can refer to light fixtures that are plugged into a socket, such as a lamp with a light bulb. It serves both a functional purpose in matters of safety and as a fun way of creating a certain ambience in a room. It can even refer to grow lights for indoor gardens or cooking lighting in a kitchen.

Exterior lighting refers to sources of light that illuminate the outside of a home or building for the purpose of providing safety and/or creating a particular ambience or atmosphere. Exterior lighting can be found in gardens or around walkways of a home as a guiding light or can be used as a safety implement, as in security lights controlled by a light control system.

Lamps are source of light that serve a functional purpose for things such as safety or reading. Other types of lamps serve the function of creating a mood in a room or are purely decorative. Lamps can stand alone or can be part of a decorating scheme; they can be easily made out of a number of objects. When it comes to sources of inside illumination, lamps are often the first choice.

Chandeliers serve as a source of light that can be deemed functional yet they are a source of light that is highly decorative and meant to be seen. They are often found in dining rooms or entryways. They will range in size from a simple overhead source that sits over a kitchen table to large artistic pieces with many parts.

Novelty lighting is a source of light that adds a bit of fun to a home or a room. Examples of novelty lighting can be anything from Christmas lights and disco balls to lava lamps and neon lights. Used for adding charm or creating a mood, this type of lighting is becoming more and more popular as a way to create focus in a room as they often emit lights and sounds.

Lighting accessories are every bit as important as the light itself. LED lights, light bulbs, lamp shades, light switch plates, bulb covers and other like accessories can help finish off a room or space nicely and can often be switched out or interchanged with little or no effort.
